Ms. Turlington is in the Class of 2021 at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston Salem, NC.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  Katelyn quickly became involved in the family medicine interest group at her school which led her to the NCAFP.  She attended the NCAFP Annual WFPW in Asheville and soon after applied to participate in NCAFP Summer Programs.  Katelyn continued her involvement in family medicine during her first year of med school as she stepped forward to lead her interest group and continued involvement in other NCAFP/AAFP activities including Family Medicine Day and the AAFP National Conference for Residents & Medical Students.  Katelyn is regular volunteer with their student-run free clinic, Delivering Equal Access to Care (DEAC) and to keep a bit of balance in life she also volunteers with The Junior League of Winston Salem and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Little known fact about Katelyn:  Prior to med school she held a career as a special agent with the Diplomatic Security Service!  Katelyn states "The NCAFP has introduced me to the tremendous breadth of family medicine, invested in me and my peers' professional growth and provided me with opportunities to meet students & mentors passionate about family medicine.  As a result I have dedicated myself to sharing the specialty with our student body.  I also look forward to advocating for vulnerable populations and working to address healthcare disparities in rural North Carolina."
