Taylor Ellis is a third-year medical student at Wake Forest School of Medicine and a proud North Carolina native, originally from Franklin County. A first-generation college student, she earned her associate degree from Wake Technical Community College before graduating summa cum laude from NC State University with a B.S. in Human Biology and minors in Psychology and Health, Medicine, and Human Values. During her gap years, Taylor worked as a medical assistant at Wake Internal Medicine Associates, gaining experience across internal medicine, family medicine, gynecology, gastroenterology, sleep medicine, and more. At Wake Forest, she serves as President of the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) and previously as Vice President, where she has focused on expanding exposure to family medicine and primary care through workshops, events, and community service. She also participated in the NCAFP Rural/Underserved Summer Immersion Program with MAHEC, inspiring her to return home to Franklin County to care for patients with limited access to healthcare. Beyond FMIG, Taylor has served as co-president of the Sexual Health Awareness Group, social chair of the First-Generation Student Association, and founder of Body Image, Food Relationships, and Health, an organization dedicated to helping future physicians navigate sensitive conversations about food, body image, and disordered eating. Her medical interests include family medicine obstetrics, women’s health, sexual health, and rural inpatient medicine. In her free time, she enjoys pickleball, hiking, reading, and spending time with her fiancé and their two pets, Melon and Billie.
