FAMPAC is the NCAFP’s political action committee (PAC), which gives North Carolina family physicians a strong voice in the General Assembly and helps the Academy in its efforts to improve state health care policies and the overall practice environment where you work. Our goal at FAMPAC is to help state lawmakers and leaders understand that North Carolina needs strong Family Medicine and family physicians to enjoy more accessible, effective, and low-cost health care.
FAMPAC contributions help us have space at the health care policy table, so that state leaders can better hear and understand your concerns. It does not mean that a legislator will support every issue we bring forward, but it helps amplify your voice in these policy discussions.
FAMPAC contributions go directly to support the North Carolina legislators who are informed and committed to the challenges that family physicians face in health policy, business, and practice management.
But what do they do? They ensure that the interests of Family Medicine are more likely to receive attention among the many competing interests and constant stream of proposals that NC lawmakers face.
Please note: Your NC FAMPAC contribution is not the same as what you might contribute to the American Academy of Family Physicians PAC. NC FAMPAC does not receive any funding from the AAFP FamMedPAC, and all your NC FAMPAC contributions remain in North Carolina.
The donors who contribute monthly to FAMPAC earn the title “NC FAMPAC Forerunners,” and they are essential to helping Family Medicine stay heard and understood in the NC legislature.
The program works through recurring contributions and is effortless once donors set it up. For additional information on how to sign up to be a Forerunner, contact Shawn Parker at shawn@ncafp.com.
Members can make contributions to NC FAMPAC all year! Contributing is easy and crucial to make sure that NC Family Medicine has a trusted place in health care policy.
