This December, the NCAFP Winter Family Physicians Weekend will return to the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, complete with convenient virtual options for attendees everywhere else! This year’s conference offers 25+ mainstage sessions and hands-on workshops packed with practical clinical updates and emerging topics. It has everything attendees want to learn and enjoy, thanks to the stellar leadership of Program Chair Dr. Amir Barzin and Program Vice Chair Dr. Jessica Triche (pictured).
Dr. Barzin serves as the President of UNC Health Faculty Physicians and teaches as an associate professor in the UNC School of Medicine’s Family Medicine Department. Since graduating from the UNC Family Medicine Residency in 2015, he has served in several leadership roles there. “I have always had an interest in serving others and being involved in my community,” says Dr. Barzin. His involvement with the NCAFP has certainly been a huge service to our members and events.
Dr. Triche serves as Director of Clinical Services at East Carolina University (ECU) Health Family Medicine in Greenville, years after she completed her medical degree at the ECU Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Triche is a familiar face in NCAFP leadership: she served as president in 2021, serves on the NCAFP Advocacy Committee, and is an invaluable fixture during our White Coat Wednesday events each year.
With Dr. Barzin and Dr. Triche leading the way, the 2026 Winter Family Physicians Weekend is in great hands. Interested family physicians can register to attend either in-person or online.
The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, Inc. (NCAFP) is a nonprofit professional association headquartered in Raleigh which represents over 4,300 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students across the state. It is the largest medical specialty association in North Carolina and is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, based in Leadwood, KS.
