Earlier this month, two NCAFP members received the Emerging Leader Institute (ELI) Project awards: Dr. Kristopher Latour and Natalie Sanchez Farez! Both received the ELI Leadership Project Award, and Farez received the overall Best Leadership Project Award!
These honors are significant: the ELI only gave out nine Leadership Project Awards, and two came to NCAFP members. Thanks to their awards, Dr. Latour and Farez will both receive funding attend the AAFP’s FUTURE Conference this July to showcase their award-winning ELI projects. Dr. Latour will present “Addressing Chronic Disease and Food Insecurity in Union County, NC: A Food-as-Medicine Initiative.” Farez will present “Bridging Classroom and Community: Healthy Insurance and Community Resources Workshop.” In addition, Farez will receive $3,000 to attend the 2027 AAFP Family Medicine Advocacy Summit.
The NCAFP is lucky to count these scholars and leaders as members. Congratulations to Dr. Latour and Farez!
