Karl B. Fields, MD, CAQ SM, FAMSSM is the founder and emeritus Director of the Cone Health System Sports Medicine Fellowship in Greensboro, North Carolina and Director of undergraduate medical education for Greensboro AHEC. He is a Professor for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a member of the Board of Visitors for the School of Health and Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Dr. Fields is Board Certified in Family Medicine and holds his Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Fields is a past-President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and has been active in teaching sports medicine with AMSSM, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has been a visiting Professor of Sports Medicine in Australia, England, China, Chile, Italy, South Africa, Qatar, Turkey and Norway. He is the editor in chief for the Sports Medicine section of UpToDate.
