Dr. Cooper is a resident physician at the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program. He received his MBA from the Penn State Smeal College of Business and his Medical Degree from Penn State College of Medicine (2018). Throughout medical school Dr. Cooper was very active in the Pennsylvania AFP. He served as the Chair and Student Representative to the Board of Directors and his interest in health policy led him to engagement with their Governmental and Legal Affairs committee and Political Action Committee. At the national level Dr. Cooper was selected as a Scholar for the AAFP Foundation’s annual Emerging Leader’s Institute and was later elected the Student Representative for the AAFP Foundation Board of Trustees. As an intern Dr. Cooper was selected by the World Health Organization to serve as a young leader for the Global Conference for Primary Health Care in Kazakhstan and was the recipient of a scholarship to attend the AAFP’s Family Medicine Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC.  Dr. Cooper’s extensive experience in advocacy will serve the NCAFP well and he is “thankful to have program leadership who support my continued development into an effective advocate for my patients and the specialty of Family Medicine. I look forward to using my voice to advocate for topics important to students, residents and physicians in North Carolina.”
