Statewide open enrollment for Medicaid Managed Care began earlier this week, and most Medicaid patients can now choose both a managed care pre-paid health plan (PHP) and a primary care physician. All NCAFP family physician members/practices are being urged to communicate with their Medicaid patients about enrolling, including what plans they are participating with and the requirement of selecting a primary care physician. Patients who do not select a primary care physician will be auto-assigned to in-network providers only.
Physicians and practices wishing to be in the active pool for patient auto-assignment must have contracts signed and returned to health plans by November 15th, 2019.
