Dr. Cristy Page Named New UNC School of Medicine Executive Dean

Cristy Page, MD, MPH, current Chair of UNC Family Medicine, has been named the new Executive Dean of the UNC School of Medicine, effective February 18, 2019. A lifelong Tar Heel, Dr. Page began her UNC experience by completing her undergraduate degree as a Morehead Scholar, and proceeded to earn both her MD and MPH from the university. She subsequently completed her residency training with UNC Hospitals, where she served as chief resident. She then joined the UNC Family Medicine faculty, rising to serve as Residency Program Director and then, in April 2017, was named Chair of the department.

“Dr. Page demonstrates outstanding leadership in each of our tripartite missions,” said Dr. Wesly Burks, Dean of the UNC School of Medicine, Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs, and CEO of UNC Health Care. “Her drive and passion for improving the health of North Carolina comes through in every aspect of her work, most recently illustrated by the Family Medicine department’s top national ranking.”

Dr. Page will step down as Chair of the Department in the coming months, at which point a search for her replacement will begin. Congratulations!
