The Health is Primary campaign, in conjunction with the Congressional Primary Care Caucus, hosted a briefing on Capitol Hill this morning that featured two NCAFP family physicians and an NC Congressman. Dr. Tom Warcup of Carolina Advanced Health (CAH) and Dr. Mary Hall, Chief Academic Officer at Carolinas HealthCare System, sat on a panel that highlighted the importance of primary care. Dr. Warcup talked about coordinated care and how CAH has been able to improve health and reduce costs in a chronic disease patient population. Dr. Hall discussed the importance of building the primary care workforce of the future, especially as it relates to rural health. The briefing was co-hosted by Health is Primary and the Congressional Primary Care Caucus which is co-chaired by North Carolina’s Representative David Rouzer (NC7).
