Student Leadership

Medical student members of the NCAFP are actively involved in the leadership of our association, with elections held yearly for most positions. The individuals below are currently serving in active leadership roles.

If you are interested in seeking election for one of the positions below with terms beginning in December 2016 - at the NCAFP Annual Meeting in Asheville - please submit your information to the NCAFP no later than 11/15/16.

Prior to medical school Ms. D'Addezio received her B.S. degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Biology from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.

Mr. Niblock is a fourth-year medical student at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. Prior to medical school Mr. Niblock received his B.S. in Public Health with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Student Leadership Positions with NCAFP

NCAFP Student Director - The NCAFP Student Director serves on the Academy's Board of Directors and shall abide by all responsibilities as established by the NCAFP Student Section. The NCAFP Student Director shall assume full responsibilities of the NCAFP Student Section meetings. Student Director is required to serve on at least one Council or Committee. The NCAFP Student Director serves as the voting delegate at the National Conference of Student Members.

NCAFP Student Director-Elect - The NCAFP Student Director-Elect shall be a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and shall abide by all responsibilities as established by the NCAFP Student Section. The NCAFP Student Director-Elect shall assume full responsibilities of the NCAFP Student Section at the conclusion of his/her term, as NCAFP Student Director-Elect or as a stand-in for the NCAFP Student Director if for any reason the NCAFP Student Director cannot fulfill his/her obligation/term. Therefore this position is a 2-year term. The Director-Elect Is required to serve on at least one Council or Committee.

NCAFP Foundation Student Trustee - As a trustee of the NCAFP Foundation Board, you hold a very special position of responsibility. You have been asked to serve on the NCAFP Foundation Board because of your leadership qualities, your dedication to the specialty of family medicine, and your desire to support the mission and objectives of the NCAFP Foundation. You are expected to make a personal commitment to the goals and objectives of the organization and the purpose of the fundraising/development program and it is generally expected that you will make a personal contribution and assist with fundraising and fundraising events. You are also expected to actively serve on a Council or Committee.


AAFP Student Leadership Positions

In addition to NCAFP leadership opportunities, there are many leadership options at the national level with the AAFP. Many of these positions require support from your state chapter, as a result please note that NCAFP's deadlines are prior to AAFP deadlines. For all elected positions and some appointed positions, the NCAFP deadline is May 1st. For some appointed positions, the deadline is Aug. 15th.
