Strategies & Models to Address Healthy Weight in Primary Care

An MOC-FP Part IV Program

This online course will allow providers to develop their strategies to address healthy weight with families of young children, including reviewing their office practices related to weight, and developing their Motivational Interviewing skills. This course provides comprehensive quality improvement learning sessions from a wide array of experts and practitioners in this field. This course is approved by both the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) for 20 MOC IV credits, is designed for family physicians and pediatricians (other kinds of providers are also welcome), and is also approved by the AAFP for 20 Prescribed CME credits (AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™).

In this online course, participants will learn how to identify the symptoms associated with multiple sclerosis and know the other conditions these symptoms can mimic; analyze the symptoms of patients in whom MS is suspected to determine when further testing is necessary; work with the MS patient to formulate a treatment plan to manage symptoms and prevent relapses, including medications, physical therapy and support groups when necessary; and communicate, recognize and help patients to manage potentially harmful side effects of medications used for MS treatments.

Due to the severe and oftentimes traumatic experiences of many children who end up in the fost care systems, the have a special set of medical and health needs that deserve to be addressed in a comprehensive and routine manner. The aim of this project is to improve the oral health screening, referral pattern, and follow up in the delivery of care for infants to children age 3 in pediatric and family practices. It is critical to integrate oral care into pediatric and family practices in order to ensure regular, annual visits . This intervention will assess the various practices and protocols in place for screening for oral health. This activity has been approved by both the ABFM and the ABP as a MOC Part IV Activity.

The aim of this project is to improve the delivery of care for the mother infant dyad in pediatric and family practices. This intervention will assess the various practices and protocols in place for working with both the mothers and the infants, including screening tools, referral and follow up patterns. This activity will be applicable to both pediatricians and family physicians. This activity has been approved by both the ABFM and the ABP as a MOC Part IV Activity.
