Pertussis is the only vaccine-preventable disease, other than flu, that isn't well controlled in North Carolina. This potentially deadly disease can be prevented with simple vaccination. Pertussis vaccines are available for infants, adolescents and adults. Make sure your patients are up-to-date on their pertussis (Tdap) vaccination and help curb the spread of this devastating disease. Tdap is a more proactive vaccine compared to Td vaccine, which was a reactive vaccine.
