Global Health Training Opportunities

Family Medicine residents in North Carolina have a number of global and international health training opportunities at their fingertips. From service work in field hospitals, indigent care programs to institutional volunteerism, there is a range of possibilities.

Global Health in Residency Training

All private and university-based family medicine residency programs offer global and international health training and learning experiences. Program participation varies among each residency, but generally includes the following features:

  • Structured with specific goals and objectives.
  • Within a different location or culture.
  • Include safe housing, food and coverages.
  • Varied length - from 2 weeks to 3 months.
