Carrie Hamby

Student Director

UNC Chapel Hill

Carrie Hamby has the pleasure of serving as the NCAFP Student Director through December 2008. Carrie is originally from the beautiful mountains surrounding Asheville, NC. From attending the NC School of Science and Math as a junior and senior in high school to earning her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill to pursuing her MD and Master’s of Public Health degrees at UNC’s graduate and professional schools, she has taken advantage of every educational opportunity afforded a daughter of North Carolina. She has been involved with the NCAFP since her first year of medical school through the Family Medicine Interest Group, by attending, training, and presenting research at the NCAFP meetings, and through service projects sponsored by NCAFP and UNC’s Department of Family Medicine. Her passions include the politics of providing healthcare for underserved people, immigrant health, and international travel and service. She is currently enjoying the hospitality and excellent teaching at AHEC sites around the state during her MS3 and MS4 rotations.
