The NCAFP Board Committees

The NCAFP Committees serve to support the infrastructure of the association as outlined in the bylaws and other governing documents. Unless otherwise stated, committees will be asked to meet twice per year during the regularly scheduled Spring Family Physicians Weekend and the annual Winter meeting. Committee Chairs are appointed by the President annually (unless otherwise stated).


Executive Committee - Acts on behalf of the Board when it cannot meet. Includes oversight for operations, fiscal management and strategic planning, maintains and supports Academy membership through recruitment and retention efforts. Develops outside public relations opportunities and fosters media contacts and be prepared to speak on behalf of Academy as opportunities arise.


Bylaws Committee - Reviews and updates the association's bylaws to keep in compliance with Board/Member directives. Ensures compliance with the AAFP Bylaws and ensures that parliamentary procedures are being followed.


Medical School Education - Works to enhance the collective efforts of NC four medical schools. Family medicine department chairs serve as a consultant group to the Academy Board relating to health care reform and how it affects medical education.


Residency Education Committee - This committee consists of Residency Directors from all NC Family Medicine Residency Training Programs. This group provides a forum for Residency Program Directors, as well as coordinates group exhibit at the AAFP Resident & Student Conference, participates in the "Outstanding Resident Physician" program of the NCAFP and provides a forum for concerns and issues relating to Resident Members.


Nominating Committee - This committee works to ensure that competent and qualified leaders are nominated annually for service on the NCAFP Board of Directors.
