The North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians (NCAFP) and the North Carolina AHEC Program are presenting a family medicine residency recruitment conference introducing M3 & M4 medical students to the state’s family medicine residency training programs
This event is designed to introduce medical students interested in family medicine to North Carolina’s family medicine residency programs. The day begins with a brief lunch, followed by four hours of skills workshops (listed above). Each student attendee will attend four (4) skills workshops, each lasting approximately 60 minutes. After the workshops, the event concludes with a Residency Recruitment Fair that will introduce students to NC’s diverse family medicine residency training programs. In addition to North Carolina programs, additional programs may also be present.
This event is primarily for medical students interested in family medicine and graduating in either 2009 or 2010. Students attendees will be provided a free overnight stay in the event's hotel on Saturday night following the conclusion of activities. Students interested in attending, but who are not graduating in those years, will be placed on a reserve list - and pending available space - may be entered into a lottery to deterimine attendance invitation. North Carolina medical students will be given attendance preference over students from outside of North Carolina.
All students attending the event may take advantage of complimentary overnight hotel accomodations at the Millennium Hotel. Students will be assigned individual hotel rooms based upon first-come/first-served availability, but may have to share a room based upon overall response. Student attendees are encouraged to share rooms with friends/colleagues where possible. Based upon overall attendance response, student attendees may be asked to share accomodations with another student attendee. Students requiring rooms must notify the NCAFP prior to April 23, 2008. All rooms are no-smoking with 2 queen-sized beds.
