Proposed Federal Budget for 2011 Includes Increases for Primary Care

The Obama Administration’s proposed 2011 budget has several increases for primary care, including additional funding for the Health Service Corps and the nation’s community health centers. The budget would also increase funding to the Agency for Health Research and Quality, as well as increase support for the CDC’s chronic disease activities. Most importantly, however, the proposal would maintain the current level of funding for health professions training programs.

The Academy will continue to monitor the progress of this proposal and report accordingly.
