NCAFP Members Meet with Congressional Leaders on Capitol Hill

Several members from the NCAFP participated in this week’s annual AAFP Congressional Conference in Washington, D.C., May 11th and 12th. The 2-day event focused on learning about the legislative process, understanding family medicine’s legislative issues, and how family physicians can affect legislation. Representing the NCAFP were AAFP Board President Lori Heim, MD; NCAFP Past President and current AAFP Board Member Conrad Flick, MD (2004); Resident Director Meshia Todd, MD; Mary Hall, MD; and Executive Vice President Greg Griggs, MPA, CAE. NCAFP’s delegation conducted a series of visits with the state’s Congressional elected officials. Meetings took place with Senators Kay Hagan and Richard Burr and Congressmen David Price, Bob Etheridge and G.K. Butterfield, and with staff members from the offices of Rep. Sue Myrick, Rep. Brad Miller and Rep. Mel Watt.
